Sunday 4th November
Early rise at 04.00 to fly out at 07.00 from Cork. Seamless transfer from Malaga to Granada. Good hotel. Cloudy with rain in the air. Visit to The Alhambra. Good meal in restaurant well off the tourist track. Bed late and a good night’s sleep.
60 kms Cloudy and dry. Steepest climb 300m in 5.5 kms. Wet end to the day. Arab bath and massage in the hotel and a good meal after. Slept well.
40kms. Wet most of the day. Interesting stops for ‘currahio’ (brandy and coffee) and an excellent value lunch. The octopus was a tad tough! Hotel well up in the hills. Comfortable apartment room and good evening meal.
35 kms. Low cloud this am. Good breakfast. Did some climbing then down below the cloud to a coffee break. Then uphill again into cloud. Some lovely views of mountains and low cloud across the valleys. Lunched while the bad weather enveloped us. Decided to take a taxi to Antequera. Dinner in town. Bed around 10.30.
Comfortable room but breakfast left lot to be desired. Bike broke so we decided to do a tour of Antequera including a visit to the Alcazaba and a taxi to our next stop. Lagarganta is a fascinating sports centre/hotel attached to a hydroelectric power station. Good evening meal.
Thunder storms over night. Took train to Ronda. Coffee in the Parador.
